South of central Lima in Pueblo Libre is the Rafael Larco Herrera Museum, more commonly called the Larco Museum. The 18th-century viceroy mansion that houses it was built on the site of a pre-Columbian pyramid from the 7th century. The Larco Museum contains a huge collection of more than 40,000 pieces of Peruvian ceramics, a large portion of which is from the Moche and Chimu cultures. These are not all on display at once. There is also an excellent collection of gold work, along with some textiles, stone carvings, and metalwork.
One of the most historic markets in Paris, Marche d’Aligre has survived revolutions, riots and waves of gentrification. But whatever tribulations come their way, the vendors continue to flog their second-hand garments, bric-a-brac and cheap food on this stretch near Bastille. Your experience of this bustling market will hinge on which part you head to; the top of the street is a good spot for cheap-ish seasonal produce, while if you make for the covered Beauvau market you’ll find the dearer fishmongers and butchers.

This 7 day festival held in August certainly lives up to its hype according to one review we read. The music, the visionary art, the ambience, the organisation are all as good as people say, and even the occasional thunder and rain storm didn’t detract from the overall experience of Ozora’s magic. It is the festival worth coming to each year as it develops organically. To quote one of the aspects of their missions ‘A universe of openness, togetherness, where we can evolve towards becoming one with cosmic energies, with nature, with consciousness, with each other, through dance, trance, creation, invention, transformation and peace.’
